“What if the next Green Ember book wasn’t just a book?”

Since I first read this tagline, I have become enthralled with the mission author S. D. Smith is embarking on and the vision he has for children’s entertainment. Coming November 18th, the author of the beloved Green Ember series will be releasing Helmer in the Dragon Tomb as not just a book, but also a video game.

“Kids are reading less and less—especially boys. This game can work as a gateway to embrace a world of reading. We have heard from countless families who say their sons—some of whom are dyslexic—finally became avid readers after giving Green Ember a try. The game is aimed to welcome many more into a lifelong love of reading.”

“Game as Gateway to Reading” Smith encourages. And with the new book being released on November 12th, and the video game following only six days later, readers are invited into the Green Ember world in a totally new experience.

The book, Helmer in the Dragon Tomb, is available to preorder now, just in time for Christmas shopping. I also highly recommend The Green Ember series at large for a great family read-aloud. See end of article for my disclaimer on the Noteworthy Elements.

Diving back in time, the Helmer in the Dragon Tomb book provides readers with the never-before-seen backstory of Helmer, one of the Green Ember’s most beloved characters. Readers (and players!) are invited into his story to discover the making (and unmaking) of the hero Green Ember fans adore. As of the time of this article, autographed copies of the book are still available through S. D. Smith’s website. Why not grab a copy as an extra-unique Christmas gift that is sure to provide hours of reading enjoyment for the cozy, wintry days ahead?

Please note: I have not been able to read and review Helmer in the Dragon Tomb yet. Judging from Smith’s previous stories, I have every reason to believe that the content in this story will be God-honoring, dragon-crushing, and hope-filled. But I am unable to provide a list of Noteworthy Elements at this time.
